ANIMALS

“As a nature and animal lover, and a vegan, I feel very strongly about our impact on the environment. The fashion industry is the second largest polluting industry in the world and therefore sustainability is the need of the hour. At the House of Anita Dongre, we are striving to be sustainable and are making firm efforts to reduce our environmental footprint. ”

Anita Dongre

Through collaborations with a network of NGOs and independent craftspeople our sustainable fashion brand, Anita Dongre Grassroot provides artisans with a consistent source of income and appreciation, empowering them and creating better livelihoods. Born out of the need to revive and sustain Indian handcrafted traditions, Anita Dongre Grassroot translates these heirloom crafts them into contemporary, sustainable fashion. This effort is reversing the effects of labour migration, while embracing design that is good for the planet.

Women Empowerment

Under the aegis of The Anita Dongre Foundation's women empowerment initiative, the company has set up Community Tailoring Units in rural Maharashtra, India wherein marginalized and needy tribal women are trained professionally to make garments. Composed of natural material, TENCEL™ fibers are biodegradable and compostable and can fully revert back to nature. Moreover, wood and pulp used by the Lenzing Group comes from natural forests and sustainably managed plantations.
